Do I need an appointment to see Shae Barry?

Yes, an appointment is necessary to meet with Shae to discuss a custom order, have a fitting, or have make up done. An appointment is not necessary to pick up garments, make deposits, look through DICIB’s portfolio or shop for ready-to-wear clothing in our store.

How much time does it take to make a couture outfit for me?

We recommend giving us at least a month between the time you come in to discuss your outfit with Shae, and the day that you will need it. Often projects can be completed quicker than this, but we are usually very busy in the studio. You will also need to be available for fittings in this time period. Anything less than a month is considered a “rush job” and may be charged accordingly.

How much extra does it cost to have something made as a “rush job”?

Rush jobs will only be accepted on a case to case basis. DICIB will charge an additional 20% to complete rush jobs.

How much does it cost to have a couture dress/ suit/ costume/ etc made?

Each garment is priced based on the time needed for drafting and construction, as well as the materials that go into the garment. Shae Barry will give you a price estimate when you come in for your consultation. If you have a budget in mind, please let Shae know about that at your consultation. While there is no way to judge each individual garment, generally bridal gowns start at $1,500 and bridesmaid gowns start at $500.

I want a dress exactly like one I have seen in a magazine. Will DICIB copy?

No, Shae Barry will not copy another designer’s work. However Shae will reinterpret the style that you like to make it an original garment that is flattering to your body shape and skin tone.

One of my bridesmaids lives out of town. Can DICIB still make her dress for my wedding?

Yes. DICIB will send her a detailed measurement chart. It is advised that she has help measuring herself. From there she will send back the measurement chart, and after the deposit is made, production will begin. Please ensure your bridesmaid is in town before the wedding for a final fitting. Additional charges will apply if measurements were taken incorrectly and alterations are needed.

I want a couture Hallowe’en costume/dance costume/ fetish costume/ drag costume/ corset. Is DICIB able to work on projects like this?

Yes! Designer Shae Barry loves to work on costumes and special garments and has made costumes for a number of men and women. Special arrangements can be made to do fittings with customers outside of regular store hours if discretion is an important consideration. DICIB can make your fantasy come to life!

What is included in my personal consultation with Shae Barry?

Your first consultation will be to meet with designer Shae Barry and discuss what couture garment or outfit you have in mind. You can pick out fabrics and discuss price and timeline with Shae at this point as well. There is a 35$ charge for this consultation, which is then put towards your file set up fee if you decide to go ahead with the garment. Once your initial consultation is paid for, all subsequent consultations are free. There will be a charge for missed appointments unless 24 hours notice is given (or in case of emergency).

What happens after my personal consultation?

After your consultation, Shae will take your measurements. You can do this the same day or come back another day for this. From your measurements Shae will set up your file, and draft a sloper – your measurements on paper. From the sloper, any garment can be created. DICIB charges $150 for your file set up.

What happens after DICIB sets up my file?

When your design, choice of fabric and completion date has been decided upon, a payment of 50% of the estimated price is required. No work will go into your garment until this payment has been made. The balance is required upon pick up of the completed garment. Depending on the garment, one or two fitting appointments may be necessary. There is no extra charge for these appointments. Please let DICIB know your contact information, and availability.

What if my weight or shape changes between my initial measurements and my final fitting?

Most designs will accommodate minor changes in your body. However there will be additional charges for alterations if these measurements have changed enough not to be accommodated.

Will my garment be done on time?

There are typically multiple garments being worked on simultaneously in the DICIB studio. Although every effort will be made to adhere to the completion date, sometimes due to unforeseen circumstances, a few extra days may be needed. Please allow for extra time.
